Student Life
Clubs take place once a week. This gives students an opportunity to explore their talents and interests
Examples of clubs offered are: Taekwondo, Chess, Lego, Ringo, Archery, Cookery, Fitness, Dance, Crochet, Language & Media, Debate, Volleyball, President’s Award.
Clubs vary from year to year and are offered age-appropriately.
For the last ten years, Lego robotics and mechanisms have helped students engage authentically with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Participation in First Lego League challenges students to research real-world problems and develop solutions by designing, building and programming robots.
Students begin using Lego bricks as early as Kindergarten and progress to digital tools in the Lego studio, where they solve problems creatively and think critically. Lego Education empowers students as creators and brings playful, hands-on learning into subjects including Geography, English and storytelling.
Students can enrol for individual music lessons
This includes a variety of instruments and voice lessons. Students develop performance skills, musical understanding, and creative expression as individuals as well as in a group to participate in our ensembles, bands and choir.
Dolphin
Dolphin is a unique Advanced Swimming Training programme that guides swimmers through a long-term athlete development plan (LTAD) with a vision to compete at Kenya Swimming Federation and eventually at international levels of competition. Dolphin provides a competitive aquatic program in a challenging, fun and caring environment, whilst promoting goal setting, life skills, team spirit and sportsmanship.
We aim to develop various personal attributes required for a swimmer to become a good competitor and hopefully a future champion. Swimmers participate in galas regularly at the county level and the results are recorded for reference and entry at KSF National Time Trials. At these trials students have the opportunity to compete at national level. This can result in swimmers with the best times representing Kenya in Junior World Championships.
Potterhouse School provides an opportunity for student leadership through the Student Council
In Junior School, the Student Council is comprised of Year 6 students, while in Senior School, there are opportunities on the council at every year level.
